General Questions
- 1. What operating systems are supported for the Sound Blaster EVO ZxR & Sound Blaster EVO Zx?
-
PC Desktop or Laptop: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista
Apple Desktop or Laptop: Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher
Apple Mobile Devices: iOS v5 or higher
Android Mobile Devices: Android v2.2 or higher
- 2. What is the battery life of the Sound Blaster EVO ZxR or the Sound Blaster EVO Zx?
-
With all SBX technology enabled the battery life is approximately 8 hours. Battery life extends if less or no SBX processing is used. You also can use the analog connection if the battery is completely depleted. The headset will also charge while in use via USB.
- 3. I’m in Windows Vista and I need to install drivers every time I connect the headset.
-
Since the Sound Blaster EVO driver is self-signed, if you move the EVO headset to a different USB port you will need to re-install the driver. This will not be necessary in Windows 7 or 8 due to operating system advances.
- 4. My volume control doesn’t work on my mobile app when plugged into my laptop or desktop.
-
As the Sound Blaster EVO is a very advanced audio device, we’ve set up priorities for control of the headset volume, mute, and rewind / forward when in different situations. When plugged into a laptop or desktop the priority for control will always be to the laptop or desktop device for these functions. You can still alter profiles and turn off / on SBX effects in the mobile app, but as the device is bound and enumerated to the operating system, the basic controls are done via the operating system or Sound Blaster EVO control panel interface (which interfaces with the operating system). In addition, when unplugged from a laptop or desktop USB port, the Sound Blaster EVO headset will automatically seek out a paired Bluetooth device. With an iPhone or iPad it will automatically adjust its volume to that of your iPhone or iPad.
- 5. I want to perform a factory reset of my EVO ZxR or EVO Zx headset. How do I do this?
-
To perform a factory reset press the MFB (Multi-Function Button) on the right earcup. This is the large circle that has the Sound Blaster logo in the middle of it and the SBX button for 1 second. The headset will turn off for a few seconds then light up in red followed by a blinking blue. This signifies the reset has been done properly. You can then power off and on the headset to pair with desired Bluetooth devices.
*Note: The MCU of the headset takes approximately 7 seconds to cycle during this time so if the power button is pressed immediately after the reset, it may take up to 7 seconds for the headset to power up.
