Experience the cinematic realism right in your living room, connect the output from your computer to your home theater system and share your X-Fi experience with friends and family. The output from Sound Blaster X-Fi can easily be connected to a home theater receiver using the Sound Blaster Home Theater Cable, available from Creative Labs.
Making the connection
The connection process is short and simple, with the clearly labeled and color coded cable. It only takes a few minutes and a few steps to make the connections.
- Power off your computer and home theater receiver.
- Connect the 1/8 mini plug connections to the Line Out ports on your Sound Blaster X-Fi card.
- Lime Green to Line Out 1
- Black to Line Out 2
- Orange to Line Out 3
- Connect each of the labeled RCA plugs to the corresponding input on your home theater receiver. Use all of the available input channels on your receiver even if the number of speakers connected is fewer than the input channels.
- Power on your computer and home theater receiver.
Configuring the installation
- In Creative Audio Console, select Use Built-In Decoder under the Decoder Tab to enable Dolby Digital and DTS decoding.

- Using the speaker selection panel for your Sound Blaster model, set your speaker selection so that it corresponds to the number of multichannel inputs on your home theater receiver (5.1, 6.1, 7.1). Please note that this may not reflect the number of speakers that you have attached to the home theater receiver.

The speakers' selection that has been made on your home theater receiver will compensate for differences in available audio channels.
- On your home theater receiver, set the input source to the multichannel inputs selection
Settings
The multichannel inputs on many home theater receivers can only be adjusted for volume level; environmental and other effects settings may not be available. If there are DSP effects that have been enabled on your home theater receiver, they may not be operative from the multichannel input. You may, however, set any environmental effects desired from the EAX selection in the Creative Console Launcher program, these effects may be similar to the DSP effects that are supplied on your receiver. Any equalizer effects, 24-bit Crystalizer, or Mixer settings can also be set in either Game or Entertainment mode. If needed, changes can be made to both Dolby Digital and DTS decoder modes in Entertainment mode.
Sit back, crank it up, and whether it is games or movies, enjoy the Sound Blaster X-Fi experience!
