Creative was an official sponsor at the World Cyber Games held in October 2004 in San Francisco. The World Cyber Games is the world’s first "Cyber Game Festival", designed to build a healthy cyber culture. The best gamers around the world gather into different cities to share the excitement and fun of the game tournaments. At the Grand Final in San Francisco, 650 national champions from 59 countries gathered to compete for the world title.
At the event, Creative's booth was packed with attendees lined up eager to meet Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel, the world renowned PC gamer who was showcased exclusively by Creative. The audience was encouraged to join in a friendly shootout with Johnathan so that they could experience the world of gaming for themselves. The booth was jam packed with press and other media who wanted the inside scoop on Johanthan and his sheer association with Creative. The entire WCG was dominated by Creative and its products used exclusively by Fatal1ty. In Fatal1ty's own words, "I require Creative's Sound Blaster Audigy sound cards when I compete! They give me an extra edge in competition with their multi-channel EAX® ADVANCED HD capabilities..."
Besides sponsoring the event, Creative also launched the
PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. Attendees were excited to learn that they don't have to suffer with poor laptop audio that comes standard with their notebook computers. Users can now experience the prowess of the Sound Blaster multi-channel audio with their laptops. Gamers can also immerse themselves in gaming with the EAX ADVANCED HD audio which comes standard in the PCMICA Sound Blaster audio card.
