Advanced Video FX

CCD Sensor
Many of our webcams like the WebCam Live! Ultra uses a Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) sensor. This highly light-sensitive chip gathers images and it gives better resolution than older technologies. You get top quality video, clear and bright colors-even in dim lighting conditions.
CIF
Common Intermediate Format (CIF) refers to a video format standard with a resolution of 352 x 288 pixels. Most of our WebCams offer a highest resolution of 640 x 480 for clear and smooth videoconferencing.
CMOS Sensor
Another technology for capturing images, Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) sensors use less power than CCD sensors but still deliver high-impact video. Check out how they work in the WebCam Live! for top-quality video chats without burning your budget!
Creative WebCam Sticker
Tired of seeing the same old webcam face day after day? Now with Creative's WebCam sticker, you can easily give your webcam a makeover. The custom-made sticker can be pasted on your camera and comes with selected WebCam products.

This feature puts power in your hands to zoom into or out from your face at a touch. Control exactly how you frame your shot with WebCam Live! Ultra, a 4x Digital Zoom camera that lets you do this and much more.
Directional Live! Audio
Directional Live! Audio is a revolutionary technology that blocks out almost all environmental noise outside the webcam's field of focal range during video chats. See the Live! Cam Voice flash demonstration on how Directional Live! Audio can give you crisp clear reproduction of your voice.
Exposure
Our WebCams allow you to select automatic Exposure control. This function automatically compensates for an over or under-exposed environment. You get perfect exposure every time, without looking either too dark or too bright. You can also select manual Exposure control to define your own optimum exposure and how you want your picture to look like.
FPS
Frames per second (FPS) reflects how many still images are displayed in a second. The higher the FPS, the smoother movement appears. Do away with annoying, jerky motions you get with some webcams by choosing Creative. Our WebCams deliver seamless video action, with up to 30 fps.
Gamma
Gamma refers to the intensity and brightness of intermediate color values. Creative cameras offer colour balance, bringing true to life colors to your video-conferencing.
Image Resolution
Image resolution determines the sharpness and clarity of an image. For instance, a 640 x 480 pixel picture will display 640 dots on each of the 480 lines. So the greater the resolution, the sharper and clearer your images. Creative cameras give you some of the highest resolutions for truly defined images. Just one example - the WebCam Live! Pro can take stunning pictures with a 1280 x 960 resolution (1.3 megapixels).
Instant Messaging
Instant Messaging is a computer application that lets you chat with your friends over the internet in real-time using text messages. But with a webcam and headset, you can also broadcast live video and talk to your contacts like you are on the phone - or even hold a video conference! Creative WebCams works with all popular IM software like AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.
JPEG
JPEG, short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, is one of the most common types of image file format. It is designed for compressing either full-color or grey-scale digital images. Our WebCams enable you to save images in popular formats, like JPEG, so you can minimize your file sizes, without compromising on quality.

Manual Focus Ring
Found in cameras like the WebCam Notebook, this allows you to focus your lens quickly on a near or far subject, to bring greater precision to your video.
MaxView™
The state-of-the-art technology broadens your view - literally. Combined with a super wide-angle lens and Creative's auto Pan 'n Tilt, you get the widest angle coverage you can have for a webcam. The MaxView™ feature is found in the latest WebCam Live! Motion - a camera that gives you an unbeatable, panoramic 200° horizontal and 105° vertical view.
Motion Detection
Motion Detection is a feature that alerts you when motion is detected in your camera's field-of-view, enabling video recording to start automatically. Once motion is caught by your WebCam, you can choose to be alerted via email or an audio-alarm, or even have the first frame of the video uploaded to a web-site.
Pan'n Tilt
Available with selected WebCams, the Pan'n Tilt feature allows you to control where your camera's looking with your mouse. You can move the camera sideways and vertically, using Creative WebCam Center's easy-to-use interface.
One-Click Panoramic Photo Snap
Ever wondered how you can get everyone in the picture? Now you can with our patented Panoramic One-Click Photo Snap function, found in selected WebCams. With just a mouse click, Viola - you get an effortlessly beautiful panoramic shot!

Worry no more about your WebCam being knocked over accidently. Our WebCam Live! Ultra for Notebooks all come with PowerGrip™. This is a specially designed feature that fixes the camera to your display securely.
Remote Monitoring
Creative's WebCams are powered by our award winning Creative WebCam Center software, which allows for Remote Monitoring. You can capture images of your home or office while away, and upload these to a website easily.
Smart Face Tracking
Smart Face Tracking is a premier feature of our WebCams. Move around as you work and never leave the picture frame - all without manually adjusting your camera! That's because our WebCams equipped with this function will track you as you move in real-time. Using colour detection technology that locks on to skin tone, your camera automatically zooms in on you, keeping you in focus always. The utility even tracks multiple persons, so everyone can join in the conversation.
Smart Face Tracking has two tracking modes:
- Continuous
The tracker continuously follows each face movement (Note: Avoid selecting this mode if there is rapid head movement as continuous tracking movement can result in jerky video).
- Smart
The tracker waits until your head stops moving before framing your face.
Software Enhanced / Interpolation
This technology increases the resolution of an image. So you can store your pictures at a higher resolution than it was originally captured. The WebCam Live! Effects is just one of our WebCams with this technology. Although the camera has a resolution of 640x480, software interpolation sharpens your pictures for stills of up to 1280 x 960 resolutions (1.3 megapixels).
Time Lapse Video
Time Lapse Video is a feature that allows you capture still images at specific intervals. Our award winning Creative WebCam Center software combines these images to create a video automatically!
USB
Short for Universal Serial Bus, a USB port such as in a USB 1.1 device allows for data transfer rates of up to 12 Mbps. This interface supports plug-and-play devices and is found in our WebCams. It provides high-speed data transfer - faster than the older serial port.
USB 2.0
USB 2.0 commonly refers to a standard of data transfer that's even faster than its predecessor - offering blazing speeds of up to 480 Mbps. Many of our WebCams are USB 2.0 Hi-Speed certified. This enables streaming of large images without loss in quality, for great performance and smooth video-conferencing, even at higher frame rates. Our cameras are also backward compatible with USB 1.1 ports.
VGA
VGA stands for Video Graphics Array, or a video display standard that can have up to 640 x 480 resolution, with a palette of 262,144 colours. Superior webcams like Creative WebCams generally offer a 640x480 VGA resolution.
Webcam
A webcam is a camera that is linked to a computer for video conferencing. Many of Creative WebCams come packed-full with features. Apart from high quality video chats so you can show off your best poses to your friends on the internet, our WebCams also allow you to take pictures periodically for uploading onto the web. Wide Angle Lens
Some of our WebCams come with a wide-angle lens that captures a wider field-of-view than ordinary webcams. The WebCam Live! Motion and the WebCam Live! Ultra use an ultra wide 76˚ wide-angle lens, so you can squeeze all your friends into one shot.
White Balance
Just like gamma values or exposure levels, our cameras can automatically adjust images for white balance as well. This helps ensure that the colors in your images are faithfully rendered, bringing new realism to your video. |
